My Only Resource

In Matthew 5, Jesus leads his disciples and the crowd out into the dessert-away from the business and convenience of society. Away from all resources that satisfy  their present needs.
Here in the desert, Jesus is the only resource. He leaves that which is convenient to elevate the supernatural.
And as I so often do, the disciples  wanted to salve a human need with a human solution.
Oh, if only I could learn to look beyond my nose! Everything must be physical for you and I...Jesus calls me and leads me to the desert, because it is then that I turn to Him...because He is my only resource. He is the only one to turn to; I learn so much more of Him there.
But it shouldn't have to be this way. It wasn't meant to be this way. Jesus wanted and still wants to be my all in all. Martin Luther said, "I had so much to do today that I first spent two hours in prayer."

Whatever it takes, Lord, to know You I'm ready to do. I want to chase You to the desert! This is perhaps one of the reasons I go outside of America...so I may truly know You! I want to know your heart more than anything else, so I will go to the desert....where You are my all in all.

You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all

Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I'd be a fool
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name

Taking my sin, my cross, my shame

Rising again I bless Your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up

When I am dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name

You're my everything
The beginning and the end
The first, the last You are
The great I am

Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
