ugust began
a new chapter for me here in Leticia. I began alternating teaching English one
week with teaching a physical activity such as art, embroidery, sewing,
exercise, etc. the next. For the most part my weekly schedule is teaching the
tutors Monday morning and planning me week's lesson for the kids; On Tuesday I
do my grocery shopping, work on updating the info for the each child's sponsor,
and doing whatever else there is to do.
Wednesday I teach Group 1 with ages ranging from kinder garden to third grade; Thursday I teach Group 2(4th-5th grade) and Group 3 and 4(middle and high schoolers) on Friday.
On Wednesday nights I sometimes attend a small Bible study in a home with people from my church, otherwise I head home by 5pm to make dinner, read, and watch the news.
Friday and Sunday night I gather with the church for a time of prayer, worship, and study....I so look forward to this time during the week! I love ending my week in worship and thanksgiving for all that The Lord has done and beholding his grace that covers all of my 'messes'...It is so freeing!
I also love beginning my week without stretched arms reading to receive all that He has for me to come!
For now this pretty much covers my 'schedule', however, I have to say that one of the biggest lessons The Lord has had and is teaching me through this cultural is to truly entrust each day to His guiding. So many times I have planned to do something and have had to throw it out of the window, because the day turned out to be a holiday, or a birthday party, or an event at the church, etc. As much as this is frustrating at times, I have learned to really enjoy this way of life-not knowing what adventure the day may hold- and accept with joy what God has placed in front of me for the moment.
I think I am beginning to grasp what and how to live Jesus' words in Mathew 6, "Therefore, do not be anxious saying 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'...but seek first is kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
And Paul in Philippians 4: "Rejoice in The Lord always; again I say rejoice...do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus."
Am I frustrated when I have to walk all eight blocks to Aljaba, causing me to get sweaty all over again after I have just taken a shower, all because the chain on my bike keeps coming off? YES! But after I have grumbled to The Lord have of the way, He speaks one word, "Rejoice, Anna." So I REJOICE, "Ok, thanks for the chance to exercise Lord, but next time could it please not be right after I have been cleaned up for church!?"
Haha...So yes it is still a struggle to always be thankful and not worry, but I am always conscious of Jesus' words now, so I CHOOSE to rejoice in his grace, to accept with joy what he has set on the plate before me...
It makes life so much more enjoyable which is what God so desires...Not a stressful, frustrating life that we regret or can't look forward to...
The peace that follows is far beyond all understanding.
