His Eye Is On the Kitten
Matthew 10:29-3129 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Was driving home late from work this past week on a country road. It was around 9:00pm, so it was dark and it was also storming. Nearly home, I passed a couple of set of small glowing eyes...Thought I briefly saw the figures of kittens. I drove on a little way debating whether to go back or not since it was storming and on a dark and lonely country road. I couldn't stand the thought of it actually being kittens and them there in the storm by the road, so I turned around. Nearly back where I thought I saw them, I had to stop. A raccoon ran off the road into the woods. I didn't see anything else within my head light span. Butt sure that I had seen more than one pair of eyes, I went on. Approximately, fifteen more feet and there they were... Soaked, curled up right up next to the edge of the road, rain pouring hard. There were three of them. Kittens. Emergency lights went on and I hopped out. They were frightened, backs reared, hair spiking along their spines, hissing. I slipped one into my hand. The other one jump back, still hissing; I picked him up by the gruff then quickly put both in the back seat. There was one more. He was more frightened then the others. I slowly put my hand out, making wooing noises. It ran to the edge of the woods and crouched. I followed. More careful this time afraid it would run into the woods. Poor thing, he ran. It was all black in there. There was no way I could see and it was still storming. I didn't want to be stopped in the road any longer.
Next morning mom and I hopped in the car. It was about eight. I was hopeful but reason and likelihood told me that my heart was probably going to be hurt. The kitten probably would either be gone from the area or....the raccoon...
Mom stopped where I guessed i had been. I walked fifty or more feet down the side of the road, looking into the woods. Listened. Saw nothing. Heard nothing. I turned back heading to the car.
*Mom in the driver's seat began to pray...So she told me.
A cry? Was it? I listened closely. Yes! Began following it. Where was it? Then I pulled back some ivy. Curled up his dirty shivering and drenched self. He was crying, "Help! Here! I'm here!". My heart skipped. Unbelief! Joy! Pity! All swelled up in me. I scooped him up to my chest and ran to the car.
Miracles happen! Believe it! The raccoon didn't touch him. The storm didn't drown or freeze him.
“And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ Ezekiel 16:6.
